What is SA Dictionary?

SA Dictionary is a computer dictionary, which translates words and phrases from one language to another. It is usually used when you work with a foreign language. It replaces the ordinary paper dictionary and gives you many advantages.



This version of the product includes English-Bulgarian and Bulgarian-English dictionaries.

System requirements: Microsoft Windows.

SA Dictionary is the leading Windows dictionary in Bulgaria and it has become a standard for the people using computers.

Cyrillic Support

If you don’t have Cyrillic support for Windows, that’s not a problem. From the Tools, Font menu, select “Set Own Cyrillic Font”. In this way, you tell the program to use it’s own Cyrillic support.

If you have Cyrillic fonts installed on your computer and you want to use them, from the Tools, Font menu, select Font.... You can choose any font, style and size from the window you will see.

The Most Important for New Users

SA Dictionary has a user-friendly interface, which makes your work easy and pleasant.

When you start the program, you will see a window with SA Dictionary caption on it’s top. To translate a word, just type it and press Enter. The translation appears in the window. If the translation is too large, you can use the scrollbar on the right side. If the word cannot be found, the nearest word will be translated. To translate another word, it is not necessary to delete the previous; it disappears automatically when you start typing.

Depending on the language of the word, SA Dictionary knows which dictionary to use. So, if you want to use the Bulgarian-English dictionary, just type a Bulgarian word.

On the left side of the window, there is a list with words in the current dictionary. When you translate a word, SA Dictionary displays the nearest words in this list. To translate a word there, just click it with the mouse. You can return the words you already translated by clicking the button {bmc back.bmp}.

Functions and Options

Functions

You can switch between small and big dictionary with the right button on the toolbar.

You can search text in the translation of the word by choosing Edit, Find….

You can search text in the whole database. From the Tools menu choose Advanced Search…. You will find examples in the open window also.

You can enter notes by choosing Tools, Notes.

You can open text and RTF files and then you can see translation of the words only by pointing them with the mouse. From the File menu choose Open….

Options

You can open options by clicking Tools, Options…. This version of the product offers the following options:

Separate different meanings If checked, blank lines separate different meanings of the words.

Translate on every keystroke If checked, every time you type a new character, program translates the word.

Automatic clipboard translate If checked, when you copy a word from any program into the clipboard, SA Dictionary translates it.

Select known words and show tooltips If checked, tooltips will appear when you point to words in the translation. If your tooltips do not appear in Cyrillic, change their font in Control Panel / Display Properties / Appearance / Item: ToolTip. For example, choosing SAfon font should solve you problem.

Latin input This version of the program gives you the possibility to enter Bulgarian words with uppercase Latin characters. So if you cannot enter Cyrillic with your keyboard, just type “KOLELO” or “SIMWOL” for example. Here is the code page: A B W G D E V Z I J K L M N O P R S T U F H C ~` [{ ]} Y :; X '" \| Q Double symbols mean that you can use either of them.

Latin output The program gives you the possibility to display Bulgarian words in Latin characters.

Words in listbox: X characters The number of the words shown on the left.

Tooltips maximum: X characters Maximum size of the tooltips that appear when you point to words in the translation.

Tooltips appear after: X milliseconds Time spend by the tooltips to appear.

Left pane width: X pixels The size of the left pane in pixels.

Window borders: X pixels The size of the borders in pixels.

Always on top The window is always on top of other windows.

Minimize in tray Tells the program to minimize in system tray (status area).

View home page on startup Home page will appear in right pane only if you haven't started translating words yet. Home page may be empty.

Tell me about new versions If checked, program will automatically inform you when a new version exists. The last two options require Internet connection.
